Local information

:: Conference venue:
SoWi-Building, Universitaetsstr. 15, A-6020 Innsbruck Austria

:: How to get to the conference venue:
The conference venue is conveniently located in the city center of Innsbruck.
The building is part of a small city campus. The SoWi-Building is the Northern-most and largest of three similar looking buildings.
You will find signs that guide you, once you enter the building.

:: How to get to Innsbruck:

By air:

Innsbruck Airport is a small airport that is served by several large airlines (e.g., Star Alliance (Austrian
Airlines, Lufthansa), Britisch Airways).
You will have to change at Vienna, Frankfurt or London.
Innsbruck is also served by a number of low-cost carriers. Check out whether a low-cost carrier that is
convenient for you flies to Innsbruck.
Some do year-around, some only during the winter season. Find out more at Innsbruck Airport.

Getting from Innsbruck Airport to the city center: Use bus "F" (tickets at the ticket machines) that leaves in front
of the airport building or a cab (between EUR 10,- and 20,- depending on your hotel location.

Flights to Munich Airport are usually cheaper. Munich is served by all major airlines.
Getting from Munich Airport to Innsbruck: You have two options:
Option 1: Take suburban train "S8" (tickets at the ticket machines) to
Munich East ("München Ostbahnhof" in German) or Munich Main Train Station ("München Hauptbahnhof").
This will take 20-40 minutes. S8 leaves directly at the airport (follow the signs "S-Bahn").
Board a train to Innsbruck. Direct trains leave approximately every two hours and take less than two hours to Innsbruck Main Train Station. Check out schedules and book tickets in advance (if you want) at the website of the Deutsche Bahn. The prize of the return ticket will depend on whether you book more than one week in advance or not. Without a "Bahncard", it will be around EUR 70,-
Option 2: There is a shuttle service called "Flughafentaxi" between the airport and Innsbruck.
The shuttle (in small shuttle taxis) takes you directly from a meeting point at the aiport to your hotel in Innsbruck (with potential stops for fellow passengers on the way).
The duration of the trip depends on the traffic situation and is on average similar to the duration of the train ride (although more convenient).
We have negotiated a group rate of EUR 36,- (one way) and EUR 61,- (round trip).
You can book the shuttle at the website of the shuttle service Four Seasons Travel.
Make sure that you use the booking code "esa" to get the group rate (at the field "Sonderwünche, Buchungscode" in the German version of the from and/or at the field "special requests" in the English version)!
The offer is also valid for conference participants that arrive a few days before the conference or leave a few days after the conference.

An important information (especially for those who fly in through Munich):
On 19 September 2009 the world-famous Oktoberfest commences in Munich.
Hence, you might consider visiting the festival for a few hours on your way back or even stay in Munich or around Munich (much cheaper) for an additional night.
Regardless of your plans, you should book your flight early. Especially accommodation in or around Munich should be booked as early as possible!

By train:
Innsbruck can be reached by train from all directions. Innsbruck Main Train Station is located in the city center. Some of the hotels and also the conference venue is in walking distance (less than 15 minutes by feet). Bus lines and cabs are in front of the train station. If you need any directions, use Google Maps or any other route planner. There is also a 3D city map with all university locations.

By car:
From East, West and North use A-12 ("Inntalautobahn") and exit at one of the Innsbruck exits.
From South use A-13 ("Brennerautobahn") and exit at one of the Innsbruck exits.
